I confirm by email
I check your photos, then email to confirm the date and price, with an invoice for a 20% deposit. If I can't tell from the photos, I'll come and look first.

Up from October, down in January
I fit everything and set the timer. In January I take it down, box it up and leave it with you.

Small: up to 12m of roofline, usually a terrace or bungalow. Medium: 12 to 22m, usually a semi. Large: 22 to 32m, usually detached. Pick the closest in the form and I'll check it from your photos.

Check your house is suitable
To book online, your house needs safe ladder access and outdoor power, and I need a few photos. If the access or power is a no, you can still book, but I'll need to come and look before I confirm the price. Rather I quoted in person from the start? Ring 07305 030625 or email me.
Safe ladder access
Clear, level ground in front of the house where I can stand a ladder up to the roofline. No conservatory, steep bank or glass roof in the way.
Outdoor power
Either an outdoor socket, or you're happy to buy a weatherproof box that plugs into a socket inside and hangs out of a window. The Masterplug IP54 box kit is about £46 at Screwfix and comes with a lead, a timer and an RCD safety cut-out.

Before you book
What's included in the price?
The lights, fitting them, a timer, taking them down in January and boxing them up. You keep everything. Extras are only what you add in the form.
What lights do you use?
Along the roofline I use classic C9 bulbs wherever they suit the house: the big bulbs you see on American houses at Christmas. Everything else is warm white outdoor LED, not the cold blue-white of cheap sets. They're held on with plastic clips that grip your gutters and fascias, so there's no drilling and no nails. A lit-up house costs pennies a night to run.
Are you an electrician?
No. I fit and plug in lights, but I don't touch your house wiring. If you want a new outdoor socket fitted, you'll need a qualified electrician.
What if something trips or stops working?
Ring me and I'll help find the cause and fix anything I can. I fit lights, not wiring, so I can't be responsible for what your circuit does. If a light I supplied turns out to be faulty, I'll replace it. If it's been damaged, for example knocked, chewed or pulled down, replacing it is down to you.
What happens next year?
The lights are yours, boxed and labelled. Next Christmas I'll put them back up for 25% less than this year.
When do I pay?
Nothing when you book. When I confirm your booking, I'll email an invoice for a 20% deposit, which covers the lights I buy for you. The rest is invoiced once the lights are up.
Can I cancel?
Yes. You can cancel for any reason within 14 days of booking, by email or phone. If you ask me to install inside those 14 days and then cancel, you pay for the work done and any lights already bought for you. After 14 days, if you cancel before I start, I only charge for lights I've bought for you that I can't return. The full details are in my terms.
Which trees can you wrap?
Small trees and medium ones up to about the size of a mature apple tree. I wrap the trunk and the main branches, so it glows all winter even with no leaves on. Anything bigger than an apple tree I don't wrap. Every tree is different, so I price it on site: small trees from £179, and a medium tree like a mature apple is usually around £329.
When do the lights go up?
Any day from October to 20 December, on the date you pick in the form. I confirm it by email. Earlier dates fill up first.
What if my house isn't suitable for booking online?
Book anyway and answer honestly in the form. I'll come and look, then confirm a price in person.
